44th Annual Awards Exhibition of The Watercolour Society of WA
Members of the Watercolour Society of W.A. are busy finishing paintings they plan to enter into the 44th Annual Awards Exhibition. Opening on Thursday 5th September 6.30pm at Perth City Farm, 1 City Farm Place, East Perth, this is the highlight of the Society’s year as the members bring their latest and finest work off the easels and out of their studios to be shown, admired, discussed, and hopefully purchased by an ever-increasing number of Western Australian watercolour aficionados.
On top of this, the paintings will be judged in several categories – Best in show, General, Still life, Innovative and Abstract, Plein Air and this year’s special category “Sustainability”. This aligns beautifully with the ethos at Perth City Farm.
The Official Opening night is open to all.
Visitors to the exhibition are also encouraged to get into the act and perhaps win a prize themselves by voting for the “People’s Choice” award – a much appreciated prize for the artists.
The exhibition is open to all free of charge and will continue on Fri 6th, Sat 7th and Sun 8th during which time visitors will be able to enjoy not only more than 200 top watercolours never before exhibited in WA, but will enjoy demonstrations given by Society members in this magical medium.
The ever-popular raffle will again give a lucky person the chance to become the owner of an original fine artwork by a member of the Society.
The exhibition is also an opportunity for the public to get to know more about the Watercolour Society of W.A. and have a go at painting watercolours.
Information about where their members are holding watercolour classes or workshops and other future exciting events will also be available.
This promises to be a fascinating and original exhibition in a beautiful setting.
