The Society was formed in 1980 in Perth, Western Australia to promote public interest in watercolours and to advance the knowledge of members in watercolour painting. Since that time the Society has grown into a strong body of dedicated watercolourists committed to the pursuit of their chosen media.
We are honoured to have Dr Ken Michael AC as our Patron. He is such a great supporter of the Society and is Western Australia’s first Governor from Greek heritage. Born in Perth in 1938, he is the son of migrants from the island of Castellorizo in Greece.
The Society holds regular exhibitions of members work throughout the year including the annual Exhibition for Prizes and Awards, which is generally held in springtime.
The Society meets every third Tuesday morning of the month at the John McGrath Pavilion, Hensman Street, South Perth.
Membership is by juried admission. Any watercolour artist interested in becoming a member should contact the Secretary.
Further details on this process are located on the “How to Become a Member” page.
Groups and individuals wishing to find teachers for watercolour lessons or workshops can do likewise or visit our Tutors page.
