Carl Altmann
Carl has a Master’s Degree in Art Education and Art History. For over twenty years he was a full- time lecturer of tertiary Art.
Before that he was an advisory Art teacher for the Education Department specialising in the program for gifted children. He has given lectures in Art History for MALA, U3A, and for the Friends of the Lawrence Wilson Art Gallery (UWA). Currently he is the vice-president for the Friends of the Lawrence Wilson Art Gallery.
Carl has become recognised as a judge for city and regional Art Exhibitions from Morawa in the north to Kalgoorlie in the east and down in the south west.
He was a co-founder of the Black Swan Prize for Portraiture and has been a judge for the Black Swan Art Prize (now Lester Prize of $130,000) and the Collie Art Prize ($50,000). Carl is also a practising artist with artworks locally, nationally and internationally.
He encourages people to become involved in the Arts at any level.
It is important to realise that the simple task of viewing Art is therapy …. Good for the soul and the mind.
