WatercoloursWA Annual Getaway – Dwellingup 2023

November 3rd to 10th

This is the suggested itinerary—partners are welcome as are fellow artists who want to join us to paint. Most afternoons are left free for you to do your own thing.  Non-members who are interested in joining our society are welcome.  Book your own accommodation.  We welcome fellow artists.

Come for the week, come for a weekend, or just a day.  We’d love to see you.

Saturday 4 November

9am – 5pm 

Boddington Lions Rodeo, Boddington 

A super fun day with bull riding, roping, ladies, novice and junior events—all the fun of a rodeo plus sheep shearing etc.

Tickets $35 per adult $20 for seniors. You can purchase online.

For more details look on their website. Fabulous opportunity for some great action pics– a full day of fun! Car pooling would be advisable.

Sunday 5 November

9.30 am

Caraholly Orchard, 92 Caraholly Road, Dwellingup #

We enjoyed this so much last year it deserves a second visit! Lovely vistas with a lake, trees, hills etc.

There won’t be any coffee, food trucks or fresh produce as they are closed on this day—we get the place to ourselves!

Go down River Road, then turn right into Caraholly Road.

Continue on the bitumen and do not go on the gravel.

Monday 6 November

9.00 am

Street painting in Dwellingup—as late or as early as you like!

You will be surprised what you can find to paint in Dwellingup!

2 little chapels on Newton Street, lovely cottages everywhere, Visitor’s centre is worth a visit as is the Lost Eden Gallery, train station— hop on the train when it is in for a lovely scenic ride.

Or sit in a café or the pub and paint whatever takes your fancy!

Lunch at 12.30 at the Blue Wren—please let Sue P know by Friday 3 November.

 

Tuesday 7 November

Pinjarra

Drive to Pinjarra—there is so much to paint there from interesting buildings to the river, bridges, the townsite, quaint shops—you name it, they have it!

Meet for lunch at Jarrah Infusion Café 28 George Street, Pinjarra at 12.30 so let Sue P know by 2nd November.

Wednesday 8 November

Boddington Townsite

From the main road through Boddington (Bannister Road) turn left into Wuraming Avenue.

Here you will find the old school which is very paintable, the Arts Centre and the Visitor’s Centre which has a good café.

Park up and wander down to the river—to the left is the Lions Weir and to the right is the Hotham Bridge.

Whacky sculptures everywhere, a paperbark forest, ducks etc.

Loads of places to sit, free barbeques.

Stay the morning or stay the day—up to you. There are 3 or 4 places to eat and drink.

Thursday 9 Nevember

9.30 am

Lane Poole Reserve

Dwaarlindjirraap area—the plein air painters paradise!

A lovely place by the river with decking, seating and barbecues so if the weather is good to us, bring along sausages etc for a barbecue lunch!

There is a fee to enter the reserve—$15 per car ($8 concession) so best to pool cars.

Loads of bird-life and views all around, moving water, still water, rocks—birdlife…..magic place……..
