A RETROSPECTIVE IN WATERCOLOUR
Verena has completed a Bachelor of Fine Art, Graduate Diploma in Art Therapy and a Masters of Teaching; Visual Art.
She is currently enrolled in the University of Western Australia PhD program. She is developing a research method for creating artwork inspired by historical women artists. Verena is employed as a Sessional Academic at Curtin University and is a member of the select ‘Western Australian Watercolour Society’.
Verena’s artwork explores gender and feminine identity. Themes include: portraits, figures, dancers and motherhood. Tender in affect, yet expressed with a powerful and loose ‘wet in wet’ watercolour style, underlying Verena’s work is a fascination with gesture, movement and body language.
