Over 80 families lost their homes in the recent bushfires in Wooroloo, Perth.
Both the Watercolour Society of WA and the West Australian Society of Arts are joining together to raise money for those effected families by having an art auction.
The event is on 28th of March at the Italian Club, 65 Marine Terrace, Fremantle.
Over 80 works of art have already been donated, with more flooding in. There are stunning watercolours, photographs by award winning photographers, bold oils and acrylics and beautifully executed pastels. The art work is mainly unframed but with mats and coverings.
We are delighted to have secured the volunteered services of a professional Auctioneer, Wayne Gardiner. Wayne has had a career as an auctioneer and valuer specialising in antiques and collector’s items from 1977.
Retired 2015. During those 38 years, he worked with the auction & valuing firms of H.E. Wells & Sons, Gregsons, Donellys and also had his own business; Wayne Gardiner & Associates, Consulting Auctioneers & Valuers 1996-2011.
There will be guidelines for the running of the Auction in the catalogue when it is uploaded. We are awaiting final delivery of more art. Points to note at this stage are that there will be no commission/fee on sales and there will not be a Buyer’s Premium charge. This ensures that all the proceeds are distributed to the charities as below.
All persons intending to bid must obtain a bidding number by registering their name, address and telephone number prior to the auction commencing at the on-site administration table.
Bar will be available and the proceeds from the snacks on offer will also go to the auction tally.
Viewing of artworks for auction starts at 11 am with the auction itself starting at 12 and continuing until approximately 4pm.
All proceeds go to the Lord Mayors Fund and local charities.
