WatercoloursWA Annual Camp 2020

As advised previously, this years’ camp will be in Margaret River from Friday 6th until Friday 13th November. Members have been requested to find their own accommodation in the Margaret River area and to let Sue or Penny know if they will be joining us. We have put together an itinerary (which may be subject to change)—if you don’t want to join us on any specific day, that is fine but please let us know if you will be joining us because most places need to know numbers ……….

Saturday 7th November

Morning visit to Margaret River Farmer’s Market, Lot 272 Bussell Hwy, Margaret River WA 6285—all the hustle and bustle of the various stalls—great opportunities for sketching, painting and photography open 8am -12 noon.
Afternoon visit to Ten Mile Brook Dam, via the Rusden Picnic Site (loos here) off Rosa Brook Road —loads of trees, lovely 10 minute bush walk to get there, pumping station, huge expanse of water—perfect for plein air painting

Sunday 8th November

Morning visit to the mouth of the Margaret River—surf , surfers and amazing ocean and/or along to Prevelly Beach—lovely beach, lunch at the White Elephant café.

Monday 9th November

Morning visit to Eagles Heritage Raptor Centre, 341 Boodjidup Rd, Margaret River.
Cost is $18 ($16 seniors!) Flying display, variety of birds to photo, sketch, paint.

Lunch at River pub.

Afternoon – Mansfield Retreat, 55 Mansfield Road, Margaret River for bird drawing session – Penny will bring down a selection of her bird books, talk about drawing birds etc. There are also opportunities to sketch or paint birds etc in the garden.

Barbecue in the evening. We need definite numbers to book the Raptor Centre and for the barbecue at Mansfield Retreat.

Tuesday 10th November

Visit to Woody Nook Wines, 506 Metricup Road, Wilyabrup (approx. 25kms from MR) vines etc and rustic café, shop.  Painting, sketching and lunch…….

Wednesday 11th November

Morning visit to Arthur’s Farm, 1/344 Arthur Road, Rosa Brook – old sheds, farm stuff etc and a tour around the farm (sheep and cattle) if wanted.
Finish up at Arthur Wines, 314 Manear Road, Rosa Brook, for a tasting of Natasha’s fortified wines – Glass Slipper white port, Ruby Slipper red port and a barrel aged muscat. This is only a small set-up but there are vats and bottling equipment etc

Thursday 12th November

Morning life-drawing session at Jenny Sanderson’s Studio, 61 Heron Drive, Margaret River.
10am -1pm with a $20 per person fee to cover the model fees.

Jenny has a large property with bee hives, horses next door, loads of trees and bushes etc for those who don’t want to do the life drawing—again, numbers please

Friday 13th November

Call in to Brookwood Estate, 430 Treeton Road, Treeton (near Cowaramup, so its on the way home).
Vines, winery, lovely café—great stop for sketching, painting etc and lunch before heading off home.
These dates and venues are subject to change due to numbers etc—we will keep you informed!
In case of wet weather – Yahava 2/2 Andrews Retreat, Margaret River. Rustic building with coffee tastings and coffee roasting, old machines, baristas working etc, café, indoor and outdoor (covered) seating
