About the Artist

Bee K C Tan is a Singapore-born Australian artist, art educator and former medical doctor whose art practice is based in Boorloo/Perth. Her interest in art as therapy led her to a MA in Art Therapy(ECU 2007) and active involvement in community arts. She has been a resident artist and tutor at Tresillian Arts Centre in Nedlands since 2019. She is also founder and facilitator of Artseeds, a community art group supported by Subiaco Church since 2012.

Tan believes art heals and is a potent agent for change, both personally and communally. Inspired by nature and the indomitable human spirit, she is adept in many mediums but prefers the unparalleled luminosity and ethereal qualities of transparent watercolours for her works. She sensitively captures the form, spirit and essence of a wide range of subjects, including people and animal portraits, florals and landscapes. Recent presentation of her art as kinetic mobiles has also added a transformational dynamism to her work.

Tan is also a keen urban sketcher and loves sketching on location. She is a passionate and nurturing tutor who enjoys sharing her skills through her ever popular urban sketching and watercolour classes and workshops.

Tan regularly accepts commissions including landscapes, florals, portraits of people, animals and pets.
