About the Artist

In 2001, Susan enrolled in Watercolour Painting classes with the TAFE “Life-Long Learning” scheme in Wanneroo – painting with watercolours has been a life-changing experience – the challenge, the beauty and the versatility of this medium have become addictive, sparking a dedication to promoting watercolour at every opportunity.

Inspiration comes from a huge variety of situations but especially from WA birds and flora, overseas trips, still life and anything weird and wonderful. Sharp contrasts – dark and light and the drama of shadows and realism are how she likes to paint. Having had no formal training, attending workshops throughout WA, NSW, Italy, Poland and Tasmania has provided a constant source of new approaches and techniques.

Susan is an award winning artist with paintings published in the Australian Artist Magazine, International Women in Watercolour and the International Watercolour Masters Exhibition at Lillieshall, UK. She has been involved in large and small group exhibitions locally and nationally, International exhibitions in Italy, India, Vietnam, France, Poland, China, Japan and Mexico and her paintings and commissions are represented in private collections worldwide.

Susan is co-founder of the Ocean View Art Group, established in 2005. She was accepted into the Watercolour Society of Western Australia (WatercoloursWA) in 2008, was Secretary for four years and President for 10 years – she is very proud to have received a Fellowship of WatercoloursWA and to be a recipient of their Service and Dedication award.
