About the Artist

Jane Li was from Beijing China, and is an international artist currently based in Perth, Western Australia. Jane has always had an interest in art from a young age. While in China she studied Chinese fine art and Chinese calligraphy under famous Chinese master painters Tian Han ⽥寒and Li Zhe , and has continued to do so while in Australia via her masters webinars and goes back to China for group classes with her masters.

Jane is best known for her detailed botanical art and her traditional Chinese fine art paintings.

She draws inspiration from her surroundings, especially native wildflower parks and Kings Park Botanic Gardens in Perth. Jane’s botanical sketches are used by some of the guides at Kings Park when they give tours. She volunteers with many community groups, and has held art workshops for organizations including Rockingham Art Centre and Heritage Perth. On weekends Jane runs a class for children, instilling in them the desire to be creative and developing their skills by using watercolour as a medium.

Jane’s artistic talents do not stop at painting. She is a Tai Chi 4 th level Master and when she participated in a competition in 2013 she was ranked 6th highest in China in the forty-two Yang style. She is a skilled interpreter and has translated a book into Chinese which was subsequently published, and was commissioned to illustrate a children’s book which was published in England.

Jane creates beautiful watercolours and traditional Chinese art. She is also known for her sketches, wood block printing and pyrography. She specializes in traditional Chinese fine art painted on silk and Xuan paper, a fine Chinese paper manufactured from the bark of a special variety of Elm tree. Her Gongbi artworks, often called “Chinese Fine Art”, are incredibly detailed and highly sought after.

Jane strives to continually improve her skills and abilities with watercolours and over the last year or so, has branched into other @yahoo.commediums including pyrography and pastels.
