President’s Report October 2024
What an amazingly busy year so far. So many opportunities for members within the society and in other circles of watercolour within the community.
An annual favourite of mine is coming up, the Getaway at York. For those who have not been on our getaways, it is a serious “me time”. An itinerary is set, but no-one has to do what they don’t want to do. We head off to paint for the morning, followed by going to lunch at a local pub or café. Then in the afternoon artists please themselves with what they want to do, some go and paint again, others find other activities to do. When one announces one is off to paint again, there is no sighing or complaining or “not again” from anyone. It is an opportunity to be amongst like minded people and get to know each other better. So do come, for the week, a couple of days, or even a day. All friends and members are welcome to come. Do book your own accommodation but let Sue Payne or I know if you are coming for lunches. It is such good fun.
As a result of me out plein air painting in the main street of York last year, I was approached by a gallery owner…..would I come and paint in front of her gallery? We got talking and this has resulted in members having a fourth opportunity to exhibit this year in Andrea’s gallery, Pantechnica Gallery in York. Opportunity knocked and we are answering! This is a great opportunity to exhibit again this year, but paintings of York and the surrounding landscapes is the theme.
Keep the brushes wet!

Don’t miss the Getaway at York and the opportunity to exhibit in the Pantechnic Gallery. More details in the newsletter.
