Saturday 23 October
Parking at the Rotary Walk across the footbridge to the settlement. Lovely old buildings. Morning tea available at the Hairy Marron Café, which is right there.
There is also a lovely walk along the Margaret River up to Barrett’s Weir where there is a lake. There are heaps of things to paint along the river or at the weir.
Sunday 24 October
10am Redgate Beach, Redgate.
Lovely beach set amongst beautiful coastal dunes and ancient granite boulders and rocks. Great surf in the right weather conditions. Good parking but may be an idea to car-share as it is a Sunday and if the weather is good. Bring your own morning tea.
(This may change if the Boranup Café has opened)
Monday 25 October
Built in 1857 by Ellen and Alfred Bussell and managed by the National Trust.
An interesting old homestead with great views, set on a hillside with access to the beach which has a fine garnet red sand. Lovely walk and subjects to paint along the river. Bring your own morning tea.
Also opportunity to paint the olive trees and farm machinery here. Lovely gift shop. #
Tuesday 26 October
A cute area that most of us just pass through on the way to Margaret River! Lots of quaint village shops to visit and/or paint and there is a Pioneer Park with a cute little church. Several places for coffee etc
Wednesday 27 October
10am Arthur’s Farm 1/344 Arthur Road, Rosa Brook
Lovely old sheds, farm stuff etc and a tour around the farm (sheep and cattle) if wanted. We will supply morning tea (bring a mug!)
For a tasting of Natasha’s fortified wines – Glass Slipper white port, Ruby Slipper red port and a barrel aged muscat. This is another part of Arthur’s farm with more lovely views.
Thursday 28 October
9am Boranup Forest.
Early start to get the morning light—one of the best SW places for beautiful trees. Tanya Izzard will be there to take videos. Meet at Caves Road viewing area just past Giants Cave on the left.
2pm Life-drawing session at Jenny Sanderson’s Studio, 61 Heron Drive, Margaret River.
$20 per person fee to cover the model fees and afternoon tea. Bee hives, horses next door, loads of trees and bushes etc for those who don’t want to do the life drawing. #
Friday 29 October
It’s just off the Bussell Highway if you are on your way home.
