About the Artist

Annette is a Perth-based artist born and bred in Western Australia.

Her interest in watercolour began in early childhood when she painted as a small child with her grandfather, who was a skilled watercolourist. Study work and family intervened and in 2009 Annette finally realised her lifelong ambition to study watercolours. She has attended Claremont School of Art, Bathurst University vacation courses and many workshops with renowned, overseas, eastern states and local artists.

She is past secretary and committee member of the Watercolour Society of Western Australia.

Awards

In April 2014 Annette exhibited in the Spirit of the Thoroughbred exhibition and was awarded the Racing Trainers Association Prize. She was awarded the People’s choice award at the Artika exhibition and has been awarded three high commendations for her work at the 2014 and 2015 Watercolour Society of W.A. awards. She also received two high commendations in the 2018 and 2019 Beverley Station Arts Exhibition.

An Australian Ballet

$375

37.5cm x 55cm

Watching these emus at Donnelly River I was struck by how graceful they are at times. The wind was blowing their tail feathers around making them look like tutus.  It started a series of balletic emu paintings that is still in progress.  More to follow.
