About the Artist
Lucy was born in Perth and in 1975 completed a Diploma of Graphic Design. Her specialist interests were drawing, etching and photography. Lucy worked in the advertising industry before travelling overseas and starting a family. After returning to the advertising industry as a senior artist she decided to experiment with a variety of mediums to broaden her artistic outlook including acrylic, watercolours, pastels and pen and ink before deciding to specialise in watercolour.
Lucy is an active member of a number of community based art clubs and was invited to join the Watercolour Society of WA and has successfully exhibited works in both general and restricted art exhibitions and has won awards for her works. She has taught watercolour painting and drawing since 1992 but has stopped teaching a few years ago. In 1999 she was commissioned to provide artwork for a new Telstra administration building and has been commissioned by private collectors.
Her first solo exhibition was in 2001 and Lucy, as president of the Wanneroo Art Society, has been invited to judge art competitions for the Joondalup and Wanneroo Councils in public exbibitions and for local Art Clubs. With the help of Lilian Hamilton has conducted and organised art and art history tours to Salzburg, Italy and France. Lucy has also been President of the Watercolour Society of WA and the West Australian Society of Arts.

This was painted from a photo taken by a friend or so I thought! The background was airbrushed with watercolour inks and watercolour. These white birds take on the earthy colours of the north.
