Dana was born in Geraldton and lived in Broome till she was sent to Kobeelya a boarding school in Katanning.
After leaving school she obtained a cadetship at the West Australian Newspapers and worked for 26 years in the Art Department as a Press Artist.
Dana had a variety of jobs which included photo retouching, illustration, maps, diagrams and hand lettering.
Everything was tonal or black and white and as there were no computers in those days and because of deadlines everything had to be done properly first up or redone under pressure. It was a disaster if you knocked a bottle of Indian ink over a nearly completed map that had to go to press in 30 minutes.
Dana had a great desire to venture into colour and when she left the paper decided to go to Atwell house. She was incredibly lucky to have had as her first tutor Larry Mitchell and this is where she developed the love of watercolour.
Dana has exhibited successfully for many years.
