Gartner, Cass

Cass has been painting watercolours for about 25 years and loves it for the spontaneity, translucency and the occasional uncontrollability of the medium.

She has made several Summer School trips to Charles Sturt University to study watercolours with a variety of highly acclaimed and accomplished Australian watercolourists.

She’s been a member of the Watercolour Society of WA for approximately 14 years and over that period has won several awards during their annual exhibitions.

She has taught at the Ocean Ridge Community Centre and more recently at the Claremont School of Art.

Her love of European Street scenes comes across in the subjects she chooses to paint, using her photographic skills to capture the scenes when she gets the chance to travel. Her love of Australian urban and rural scenes is captured in photos, mostly painting once she returns home.

She is a consistent demonstrator at the Watercolour Society’s Bienalle and holds workshops when time permits.

Cass exhibits locally and regionally on an on-going basis, selling and winning fairly consistently.

More recently she has developed a liking for portraiture and was lucky enough to be one of 44 finalists at an exhibition in Collie 2018. She is keen to pursue portraiture so keep and eye out for future works!
