Sue Hibbert was born in Perth, Western Australia. Her watercolour paintings capture the flow of light and mood upon an object or landscape with the use of expressive washes of colour and calligraphic brushstrokes.
Sue was encouraged to paint and draw at an early age by her artist father Laurence Hibbert.
Many weekends were spent exploring the Darling Ranges observing the colours and textures of the landscape. These early lessons have remained an inspiration for her paintings.
She has exhibited in many group and solo exhibitions including The Watercolour Society of WA exhibitions, Town of Claremont Art Awards and The Camberwell Art Show in Victoria.
In 2014, 2016 and 2018 her paintings were selected to represent Western Australia in the International Watercolour Biennale in Italy. She has a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Design from Curtin University and has attended many painting workshops to further her knowledge of the medium.
Sue has taught Watercolour painting for over 18 years and is a sought-after painting demonstrator at art groups and art events.
