Shelda grew up in Tuart Hill and during her school years, always enjoyed drawing and artistic pursuits, including painting, pottery and china painting.
With no further formal art education, she started some regular drawing classes about ten years ago and had since branched out and tried oils, pastels and watercolour under the instruction of various local teachers. She loves to paint a variety of subject matter, but has a special affinity for animals and many of her paintings include animals of some kind. As a result, she has thoroughly enjoyed completing a number of pet portrait commissions.

In recent years, Shelda has become attracted to the wonderful qualities of watercolour and has attended a number of workshops by well-known visiting artists such as Alvaro Castagnet, Ross Patterson, Greg Allen and Tony Smibert.

Two years ago, Shelda was accepted as a member of the Watercolour Society of WA and she is also a member of the WA Society of Arts, Melville Community Arts, Alfred Cove Art Society and the Armadale Society of Artists.

Since joining the Watercolour Society of WA, she has begun to exhibit more regularly and has won several prizes.
Shelda’s work is represented in private collections both locally and overseas.
