About the Artist

Although she was born in Africa, Cass has lived in Western Australia for the last 30 odd years, enjoying the pursuit of her career. She’s an avid watercolourist and takes great delight in the spontaneity and elusiveness of the medium. She grew up in Africa, drawing from a very early age and took up painting once she arrived on Australian shores.

Cass has been a member of the Watercolour Society for about 15 years, recently becoming the Secretary. She has won the odd award at the annual Watercolour Society Exhibition and has had the occasional win at various local and regional community exhibitions.

She currently teaches at the Tresillian Art Centre in Nedlands and previous to that taught at the Claremont School of Art and the Ocean Ridge Community Centre.

During the Australian summer, Cass studied at the Charles Sturt University in Bathurst NSW under various world- renowned Australian watercolourists using this knowledge to deepen her understanding of this challenging medium.

She enjoys a diverse range of subjects including portraiture, European street scenes, Australian rural and urban scenes, boats and seascapes.

‘I believe art is the result of an interpretation and the brush work inevitably as beautiful and individual as handwriting’.

A Quick Bite to Eat

$150

Unframed

While down at the Port in Fremantle these two gentlemen came in for a bite to eat their red jackets catching my eye. I worked from a photograph for this one but did do a small study on sight which always helps to cut the information down

Streets of Krakow

Unframed

This is a scene close to the accommodation I stayed at in Krakow, Poland last year for a trip done with the Watercolour Society. The stark contrast of the light and shadow caught my eye.
