I was born in Perth and educated at Nedlands Primary School and Scotch College. My father was a farmer who moved to the city. I have always enjoyed visiting the family farm which has provided me with a background in farm and country painting.
As a city boy I developed a love of sailing both on the river and ocean and have continued to sail in ocean races. The water has been a large part of my life and features in many of my paintings along with both sailing and power yachts.
I very much admire and am influenced by the works of Australian artists Joseph Zbukvic, David Taylor and West Australian Artist Ian de Souza who have a loose impressionisti style similar to the English artist Edward Wesson and American artist Edgar Whitney. My style is representative/impressionist.
My paintings are displayed at continuous exhibitions with the Alfred Cove Art Society, Atwell Gallery and the annual Exhibition of the Watercolour Society of WA at the Italian Club Fremantle and the West Australian Society of Arts.
I am president of the Melville Community Art Association, manager of the Atwell Gallery, a member of the Watercolour Society of WA, Alfred Cove Art Society and the West Australian Society of Arts.
