Kale Miller was born on 01/01/1941 in Fremantle, Western Australia.

He graduated as a Secondary Art Teacher from Claremont Teacher’s College and spent 10 years teaching art in Secondary Education. He then transferred to the Technical & Further Education system as a Senior Lecturer in charge of Art in Fremantle, Perth and for the last 19 years of his 31 years in the TAFE system at Carine TAFE.

During 1995 he had his first solo exhibition ‘The Beach & The Bush’ at the Sorrento Gallery of Fine Art, in Sorrento.

In 1998 his second solo exhibition ‘Retrospective Works’ was held in The Graduate Gallery, Carine Campus, West Coast College of TAFE.

In 1999 Kale retired early from Art Education in order to concentrate on his own career as a professional artist.  He spent two years establishing a studio in a new home in the coastal suburb of Hillarys and prepared for his new vocation.

During 2002/03 Kale concentrated on raising public awareness of his work by entering exhibitions:

2002 he won the Cossack Art Awards - ABC prize for Watercolour 2003 the Joondalup Community Art Exhibition – Watercolour Award

2003 Town of Vincent Award – Watercolour 2003 Mindarie Art Award – Sculpture

2003 Cossack Art Awards – Watercolour Landscape Award

Finalist in the Australian Artists Magazine’s Art Prize Challenge # 12 Landscape.  2003 June edition

Feature Artist – How Did You Paint That? Segment Australian Artist Magazine. 2003 August edition

Judge, WA Pastel Society – Annual Exhibition 2003, 2004 & 2007

Exhibited 2002 – 2010 Joondalup & Melville City Annual Art Awards

2008 Finalist in the City of Perth Black Swan Portrait Prize

2008 Painting purchased by Melville City Art Collection

2010 Painting purchased by Joondalup City Art Collection

In April 2004 he had his third solo exhibition at the prestigious Gallows Gallery in Mosman Park.  This proved to be an extremely successful venture.

In 2005, in conjunction with fellow artist Bill Hawthorn, he produced an exhibition at the Hellfire Gallery in Esperance.


In 2006, in conjunction with fellow artist Bill Hawthorn, he produced ‘The Two Grey Beards in Colour’ at the Blender Gallery in Joondalup.

Since 2002 he has exhibited annually with the Carine Art Group.

During 2012 he exhibited at the Elements Gallery in Dalkeith.

Meanwhile he continues to accumulate work towards another major solo exhibition.
