Biography

ImageJune was born in Perth, Western Australia and was raised on a wheat and sheep farm north east of Perth. From a young age she spent many hours drawing and Art was a great interest during her school years.

Her mother was a great influence with her creative hobbies and in the last ten years of her relatively short life, took up Plein Air painting, being a self taught artist. My family have a wonderful collection of her landscapes of our farm.

After leaving school, June pursued a career in nursing and midwifery. At that time she had great fun sketching during lectures. She continued to nurse, travel then marry and raised three boys. During this time she continued to remain creative by pursuing many hobbies, quilting, mosaics and stained glass to name a few.

She then dabbled in acrylics, pastels, went onto Tafe completing Certificate 111 in “Elements of Drawing”. Then her love of watercolours became a passion. June was soon to embark on classes and workshops with accomplished watercolour Artists. With constant practise and study, her water colour paintings began to improve. The learning process will continue as one is always progressing in any creative field and that is what is so exciting. Plein Air painting is now one of her passions.

June is a member of the Alfred Cove Art Society, Artzplace Art Society and the Watercolour Society of WA.

She has sold paintings and her works are in private collections in Asia, New Zealand and Australia. She was thrilled to receive the People’s Choice Award at the recent Artzplace Art Scociety Exhibition.

June will continue to relish her love of watercolour and strive to continue to learn and develop for many years to come.
