Perth born W.A. Artist Aurelie Yeo has had a lifelong interest in painting and has become well known for her treatment of the local landscape and her sensitive portraits both detailed studio works and portrait sketches in various media.

Her diversity of approach and subtle handling of her subject matter through the media of pastel, oil, water colour and mixed media draws inspiration from the many moods of the landscape about which she is passionate and her visual responses reflect a sensitivity and concern for the fragile nature of the Australian environment. Her first solo exhibition following the completion of a Diploma of Fine Art (which marked the beginning of her painting in a full time capacity) was based on impressions gained during a visit to China.

Her next exhibition was held at the Margaret River Art Galleries in the region of the South West Karri forests. The theme on this occasion being "Our Fragile Environment". Since then she has held seventeen more solo exhibitions comprising landscapes of both the South West and Kimberley regions of Western Australia and also floral arrangements and still life including native flora. These solo exhibitions include several held at Yulara (Ayers Rock) where she was also Artist in Residence.

From 1990 onwards she travelled widely within Western Australia from the Kimberleys down to the south Coast and has also visited the Flinders Ranges and the top end including Kakadu and Kununnurra on various painting expeditions In 1993 she was invited on a Mediteranean Cruise as a Tour Artist and stayed on painting in Italy. She spent Christmas 1997 on an Antarctic expedition which added a further dimension to her understanding of the environment in its many forms and which culminated in a major exhibition based on Antarctica in 1998

In 2001 the Kimberley region was the theme of an exhibition at the Gallows Gallery in Mosman Park. Rottnest Island has also been an inspiration and she has participated in four exhibitions on the island. A significant proportion of her work has always been portraiture in which she maintains a strong interest. This interest was initially encouraged by the eminent tutelage of Owen Garde and Henry Froudist. Further influences have been Max Meldrum, E.R.Kinstler and Charles Reid. She has been guest portrait artist at Amberley Estate during their Semillon and Seafood weekend, Dowerin Field days and at a number of Galleries and exhibitions. Her portraiture varies from quick portrait sketches to formal studio portraits in various media and includes both individuals and groups.

She has been Artist in Residence at Mulgara gallery at Ayers Rock on six occasions each for a four week period. Her love of the Australian wilderness areas has been fuelled by many visits to remote areas in Western Australia and the Northern Territory and her paintings are a reflection of this. She has conducted painting and drawing courses and workshops and has given demonstrations in between participating in over one hundred invitation exhibitions. This prolific artist works from her studio in Mosman Park
