I was born in Salisbury, Rhodesia now Harare, Zimbabwe - a once beautiful, prosperous country. I spent my school years at the Dominican Convent and was always drawn to art and all that it entailed. I met my Australian husband during the Rhodesian war and because of his involvement in the military, we moved with our two daughters, Melanie and Sarah to South Africa early in 1980. I had my third daughter, Rebecca in Pretoria and we immigrated to Australia several years later. |

Renata Wright is an Australian born artist who has had a love of art, crafts and creativity all her life, inspired by her father Karel Srb who was a saddler and leatherworker by trade, and her mother Brigitte who has been her constant supporter. Renata is mainly self-taught but has attended various courses run by professional award winning artists who have all inspired her in one way or another. One of Renata’s biggest inspirations came from attending Avondale College in New South Wales in 1988 when studying for a Bachelor of Education majoring in Art. During that year, one of Renata’s teachers, Bruce Durrant, introduced her to the wonderful world of watercolour. It was after that year that watercolour became her favourite art medium and she set out to explore it further and develop her own style. Renata now exhibits and sells original works regularly, has received numerous commissions, and has work in private homes around the world. More of Renata’s work can also be seen on her new website – www.renatawrightart.net. She has also recently commenced watercolour painting classes in the Perth northern suburbs. Born Sydney 1946. Susan studied Art and History of Art during her high school years at Pymble Ladies College in Sydney and Art was one of her successful intermediate certificate subjects.
In 1968 Susan moved to Perth, married, had two children and established a business. In later years when living and working in the Nannup shire, Susan spent several years doing folk art painting, attending a few interstate workshops and also doing a little teaching. |

The only other interest in her life came from a natural talent she possessed, she could paint. When she was 11 years old, she was accepted for a placement at Moseley Art School. Placements at the school were highly sought after but unfortunately she couldn't take the placement. After tragically losing her father six years earlier, the family business had failed, so financing a private education at art school was just not possible, being just one of the eight. |

Contact Details Gallery (Click to view paintings) Biography Roderick (Rod) Brown was born in Kalgoorlie, Western Australia. Rod spent his first 30 years in this arid and remote gold mining town. As a youngster he remembers the great freedom he enjoyed surrounded by the stark but vivid images of the mines and surrounding bush, which he regularly explored. Rod as a child watched his father paint in oils and sketch, in charcoal and ink, portraits of local identities.
The early seeds to later pursue art were sown at this time. Rod went on to live with his family in Australia, Europe and the USA. During this time he has visited over 38 countries around the world enriching his life and building on the foundations acquired in Kalgoorlie, which was a very multicultural society. Rod decided to explore his artistic leanings taking up oil painting while living in Sydney. At that time Rod was a member of the Castle Hill Art Society and The Hornsby Art Society. Rod took up watercolour painting at this time, which has been his preferred medium since. Rod has exhibited at many public shows particularly while living in Sydney and has over the years painted commissioned portraits. Rod has paintings in corporate and private collections with works in the USA, Canada, Sweden, UK, Japan and Australia. Rod paints studies of people, buildings, landscapes and still-life. His style embodies the use of strong vibrant local colour usually applied alla prima. |

In her early childhood the family moved to Perth, settling in the Hills at Darlington. She attended Darlington Primary School and Perth College, going on to complete a Diploma in Interior Design from Perth Tech. On the completion of her studies Penny went to work in London and to travel in Europe. Eventually she settled in South Africa with her engineer husband and raised four daughters. Her great love of art emerged as a passion for watercolour and was gradually honed over the years by wonderful teachers and workshops, and always practice. She has painted fulltime since 1992. |
