Dana was born in Geraldton and lived in Broome till she was sent to Kobeelya a boarding school in Katanning.

After leaving school she obtained a cadetship at the West Australian Newspapers and worked for 26 years in the Art Department as a Press Artist.

Biography

I was born in Salisbury, Rhodesia now Harare, Zimbabwe - a once beautiful, prosperous country. I spent my school years at the Dominican Convent and was always drawn to art and all that it entailed. I met my Australian husband during the Rhodesian war and because of his involvement in the military, we moved with our two daughters, Melanie and Sarah to South Africa early in 1980. I had my third daughter, Rebecca in Pretoria and we immigrated to Australia several years later.

Susan was born in Reading, England and always enjoyed artistic pursuits such as painting and pottery during her school years. A career in Personnel Recruitment, marriage and children meant that she didn’t pick up a paintbrush again until 2001!

Biography

   Richard first studied art at Chartesey in London,mainly pen & ink work while studying draughtsmanship, which he never took up, instead went into the Film Industry working on films and TV series.  He only began painting watercolour in 1995. Richard has been an active member of many Art groups and has participated in workshops by Robert Wade, Rex & Joan Knight, Graham W Smith also demonstrations by Birgit O'Conner.

As long as Jude can remember she has always felt the urge to be creative, it has been a  lifelong passion .From a very early age creative activities were always a big part of her day. Over the years, during a busy and varied career, she has also been involved in designing and creating sportswear, ceramics and textiles.

Biography

Renata Wright is an Australian born artist who has had a love of art, crafts and creativity all her life, inspired by her father Karel Srb who was a saddler and leatherworker by trade, and her mother Brigitte who has been her constant supporter.  Renata is mainly self-taught but has attended various courses run by professional award winning artists who have all inspired her in one way or another.  One of Renata’s biggest inspirations came from attending Avondale College in New South Wales in 1988 when studying for a Bachelor of Education majoring in Art.  During that year, one of Renata’s teachers, Bruce Durrant, introduced her to the wonderful world of watercolour.  It was after that year that watercolour became her favourite art medium and she set out to explore it further and develop her own style. 

Renata now exhibits and sells original works regularly, has received numerous commissions, and has work in private homes around the world.  More of Renata’s work can also be seen on her new website – www.renatawrightart.net.

Biography

Born Sydney 1946.  Susan studied Art and History of Art during her high school years at Pymble Ladies College in Sydney and Art was one of her successful intermediate certificate subjects.

 In 1968 Susan moved to Perth, married, had two children and established a business.  In later years when living and working in the Nannup shire, Susan spent several years doing folk art painting, attending a few interstate workshops and also doing a little teaching.

Lori was born in Manjimup in the southwest of Western Australia. Her earlier years were spent on her father’s farm in the beautiful karri country of Northcliffe, near the famous Valley of the Giants, and this lush wilderness nurtured in her a love and respect for its distinctive plants and wildlife.

Biography

 Kate was born in England, the youngest member of a large family. She had an enthusiastic love for animals. The only other interest in her life came from a natural talent she possessed, she could paint.

When she was 11 years old, she was accepted for a placement at Moseley Art School. Placements at the school were highly sought after but unfortunately she couldn't take the placement. After tragically losing her father six years earlier, the family business had failed, so financing a private education at art school was just not possible, being just one of the eight.

Pam's grandmother was an excellent watercolour artist who unfortunately never reached her full potential due to the times that she grew up in. Her cousin is a well known oil painter living and exhibiting on King Island Tasmania and other avenues.

Biography

Roderick (Rod) Brown was born in Kalgoorlie, Western Australia. Rod spent his first 30 years in this arid and remote gold mining town. As a youngster he remembers the great freedom he enjoyed surrounded by the stark but vivid images of the mines and surrounding bush, which he regularly explored. Rod as a child watched his father paint in oils and sketch, in charcoal and ink, portraits of local identities.

The early seeds to later pursue art were sown at this time. Rod went on to live with his family in Australia, Europe and the USA. During this time he has visited over 38 countries around the world enriching his life and building on the foundations acquired in Kalgoorlie, which was a very multicultural society. Rod decided to explore his artistic leanings taking up oil painting while living in Sydney. At that time Rod was a member of the Castle Hill Art Society and The Hornsby Art Society. Rod took up watercolour painting at this time, which has been his preferred medium since. Rod has exhibited at many public shows particularly while living in Sydney and has over the years painted commissioned portraits. Rod has paintings in corporate and private collections with works in the USA, Canada, Sweden, UK, Japan and Australia. Rod paints studies of people, buildings, landscapes and still-life. His style embodies the use of strong vibrant local colour usually applied alla prima.

Sue was born in Perth Western Australia in 1963 and is married with two children.

At an early age, Sue was encouraged to draw and paint by her father Lawrence Hibbert.  Many weekends were spent walking in the Darling ranges and observing the unique diversity of the bush.  These observations and early lessons have remained as inspiration for her paintings today.

Penny Maddison was born in Kuching, Sarawak. Her mother was a Perth girl and her father was an English Colonial officer who went to Borneo to work for the last White Rajah.

In her early childhood the family moved to Perth, settling in the Hills at Darlington. She attended Darlington Primary School and Perth College, going on to complete a Diploma in Interior Design from Perth Tech. On the completion of her studies Penny went to work in London and to travel in Europe.

Eventually she settled in South Africa with her engineer husband and raised four daughters. Her great love of art emerged as a passion for watercolour and was gradually honed over the years by wonderful teachers and workshops, and always practice. She has painted fulltime since 1992.

Brenda received her first watercolour paints when she was 5 years old and it wasn’t long before she was painting scenery for the opera productions at her local school, then at the age of 15 one of her art works was exhibited in her home town. This early introduction began a lifetime love of painting.

Brenda has had many accomplishments since then with a Distinction in Art with the London University, a Bachelor Of Arts Degree and a Certificate of Education at Bristol University. She established an Art Club where she encouraged mixed media and experimental painting, exploring the influence of music on imagination and creativity.. As a young mother in Merredin in the wheatbelt region of W.A., she learned spinning and weaving and worked as a design consultant for Eastern Dist. Construction Co. Once again she painted scenery, this time for the Model Railway Society.

Irene Osborne is a multi award winning, professional Perth artist with an impressive list of many different experiences in her visual arts career, since she gained her Diploma in Fine Arts in 1975.

Lucy was born in Perth.  She graduated from Perth Technical College in 1975 having completed a Diploma of Graphic Design. Her specialist interests were drawing, etching and photography. Lucy worked in the advertising industry before travelling overseas and starting a family. 

 After returning to the advertising industry as a senior artist she decided to experiement with a variety of mediums to broaden her artistic outlook including acrylic, watercolours, pastels and pen and ink before deciding to specialize in watercolour.

Having been educated at Penrhos College Pam completed an art degree in Perth and started working in oils and acrylics supplying works for an interior decorator. In these materials she gained places in the WA Newspapers Outdoor Art Show, WA Tourism Art Competition, Rotary Art Awards and several local council showings before fulfilling a latent desire to work in watercolour. Self taught in watercolour she has developed her own unique style and won many awards. Pastels and acrylics have also entered her vast repertoire which she sometimes combines with other mediums to produce her popular mixed media works.

Biography

Philomena is an Australian of Chinese descent. She paints in both the traditional Chinese Brush painting and Western watercolor styles.

A combination of both styles produces a uniqueness that reconciles the calligraphic mark making of Chinese art with the many techniques available to western watercolorists. Her unique style is characterized by a certain luminosity of tone and elegant, strong brushstrokes that impart a sense of freedom of spirit.

Sandy has a recognisable style of painting in watercolour which embraces the true watercolour look while at the same time being colourful and contemporary.

Her painting career has included painting and teaching in local, interstate and overseas venues and winning numerous awards for watercolour in her state of Western Australia. 

Her subjects include landscapes, beach scenes, buildings, cityscapes and flowers. Many of these subjects are painted on-location using an easel in an almost vertical position to let the paint and water flow freely which contributes to her relaxed style.
