Bernice is a well known artist, especially for her and and seascapes, painting both realistic and abstract.  She began her art career working in oils, but now paints almost exclusively in water colour and mixed media.

Born at Nedlands and educated at Nedlands Primary School and Presbyterian Ladies College, Western Australia

She has exhibited in many group shows, won awards at Mosman Park Town Council, Royal Agricultural Society of W.A. Pinjarra, Wagin, Narrogin, Dianella, Cottesloe, Mandurah, Cossack and Kalgoorlie/Boulder, Morawa ,Dalwallinu Williams and Gascoyne Art Exhibitions.  Also with Art Societies throughout Australia. Her work is Mood, represented in private collections, Shire Councils and offices in Western Australia, locally and in the country.  Also in the Eastern States of Australia, Canada, United States of America, Germany, United Kingdom, Poland, New Zealand, Singapore, Saudi Arabia, Ireland, Scotland Indonesia, Japan, China, Italy and France.

Bernice belongs to the Watercolour  Society of Western Australia  where she held the position of Vice President for five years. A member of  the Royal Queensland Art Society, and the Alfred Cove Art Society.  She is Life Member of Western Australian Society of Arts and held the position of Secretary between 1985-1992,

Bernice has travelled extensively throughout UK, Greece, Turkey, France and Italy, Spain and Portugal, Croatia  and throughout Australia, committing paint to paper, working off and on the beaten track.  She especially finds the Kimberley’s and Pilbara in Western Australia, the Olgas and Kakadu areas in the Northern Territory a wonderful source of inspiration and joy.  A recent painting trek in the Rudall River region extended her love for the outback and was a huge success in providing many paintings

Ambience and the mystery of the Australian bush are the drawcards that keep this award winning artist producing beautiful paintings and at the top.  Bernice deftly portrays these elements in her work.

She mainly paints on site in either a realistic or abstract style and sometimes even combines both of these characteristics in her paintings to get the best results from her subject.  She began her career working in oils, and is proficient in most mediums.  In recent years she almost exclusively paints in watercolour and mixed media.

Protecting and recording our environment have become a factor in her life, particularly the Kimberley and Pilbara regions of Western Australia, the Kakadu areas in the Northern Territory, and locally on our coastal beaches.

Her escape’s with paint and palette are not confined to Australia as she has painted in many countries.  Her paintings are far and wide and in many collections.  Her numerous awards are on a separate page.

Bernice was the Vice President of the  Watercolour Society of  W.A. for 5 years.  She is a life Member of the Western Australian Society of Arts, a member of  The Alfred Cove Art Society,  Melville Council Community of Arts, The Royal Queensland Art Society.  Australian Guild of Realist Artists.
